The Bruins dropped a point last night against Carolina in a 3-2 overtime loss. This win for the Hurricanes extended their home point streak to 10 straight games. Teuvo Teravainen scored the game winner for Carolina as he carried the puck through the neutral zone and fired the biscuit from the high slot with 1:59 remaining in OT. Teravainen later talked to the media about his game winning goal, Per nhl.com.

I think that’s my first overtime goal ever, Teravainen said after lifting the Carolina Hurricanes to a 3-2 win against the Boston Bruins at PNC Arena on Friday. I can’t remember [one]. It’s a pretty cool feeling, and to help the team win, it’s always a special moment.

The credit must not go completely to Teravainen, as Canes goaltender Cam Ward, who was rock solid the entire game, racked up 31 saves. Ward is now 15-11-7 on the season and helped the team to 9-0-1 in their last 10 home games with tonight’s win. The Bruins jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in when Ryan Spooner and Brad Marchand both netted goals. Spooner scored his fifth goal of the season 9:13 into the 1st period. Marchand’s goal 3:17 into the 2nd period marked his tenth of the season. The momentum did a full turn and pointed in Carolina’s favor when Jordan Staal scored a shorthanded goal to kick start the rally. The Bruins Austin Czarnik mishandled the puck and Staal to full advantage of that and streaked down the ice for a break away goal. Hurricanes defender Justin Faulk notched up the score line 2-2 when he wristed a puck past Khudobin. The score would hold up until the teams went into overtime, which was ultimately decided by Teravainen’s winner.

The Bruins definitely started out the game with a jump in their step but couldn’t maintain it and hold off the Canes comeback. Cam Ward had comments on the Bruins after his stellar performance, Per nhl.com.
