The Boston Bruins entered the Nation’s Capital Wednesday night in search for their fourth-straight win, only to find themselves leaving with no points in their pocket. The B’s headed straight for Washington’s high powered offense, losing 5-3. The Capitals continue to own the Bruins number whenever these to teams face off.

Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and two assists giving him three points on the night earning the games first star. Braden Holtby was impressive in-between the pipes racking up 30 saves, making his career record against Boston an astonishing 11-2-0. Alex Ovechkin notched a power play goal in the 2nd period giving him a total of 25 on the season. T.J. Oshie, Brett Connolly and Evgeny Kuznetsov each chalked up a goals for Washington. Holtby had some postgame comments, Per ESPN.com.

We seem to play good against them, said Holtby, who stopped 15 of 16 shots he faced in the third period to preserve the victory. They’re a fun team to play against. I like teams that play hard, play hard in front of the net. It’s an enjoyable game to play.

It seemed like all four lines and the D and Holts, we were all kind of going together, said Oshie, who scored his 19th goal of the season on a breakaway created by Backstrom 3:06 in. Everyone was playing fast.

Some guys have to step up and give us some offense here, Julien said. Our power play’s good, it’s scoring goals, but 5-on-5 we definitely have to be better.

Brad Marchand also had a multi-goal game notching his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season.
