Recap: TD Garden Boston Ma 1:00 PM; another snowy day here in Boston. Yesterday we honored late Detroit Red Wings and Tigers owner Mike Ilitch before the game.  Soon afterwards the Garden faithful paid tribute to the New England Patriots by having SB hero James White take the ceremonial puck drop.

1st period

The Bruins came out showing speed and confidence in front of backup goalie Anton Khudobin. This also marked Peter Cehlarik’s NHL début, and he showed signs of chemistry with Pasternak and Krejci. Khudobin answered the challenge multiple times, robbing Brandon Sutter.

At the 4:56 mark, David Pasternak, in his offensive zone, turned the puck over with an errant pass attempt. This sent Alexander Burrows and Bo Horvat on an oddman rush in which Khudobin made the first save, but could not stop the rebound on Horvat’s shot, his 16th on the season assisted by Alexander Burrows’ 10th of the year.

The Bruins line of Krejci, Pasternak and Cehlarik immediately responded by peppering Ryan Miller.  They created opportunities one after another including a beautiful pass by Cehlarik to Pasternak that Miller robbed.  At 11:44 a Boston power play came from Henrik Sedin for a trip on Chara. Penalty killed.  The Bruins committed multiple turnovers through the opening period.

At the 13:33 mark of the period, Kevan Millar scored his second goal of the season from Ryan Spooner his 20th and Frank Vatrano with his fourth assist.

Game tied 1-1

17:53 Vancouver penalty to Chris Tanev hooking

19:22 Power play goal. Frank Vatrano takes a beautiful pass from the right circle and buries a one timer  over Ryan Miller’s left shoulder for his 7th goal from Krejci with his signature stick-handling and soft hands gets his 23rd assist and Krug with his 30th. Truly a highlight reel goal.

End of first period

Bruins 2-1

2nd period

Bruins withstand an offensive blitz by Vancouver in the opening minutes. Turnovers and stifling play by Ryan Miller still plagued Bruins through 2nd period. Bruins had some great chances.

13:36 Bruins penalty on Pasternak for holding. Penalty killed.

Khudobin held his end of ice denying Brendan Sutter and Bo Horvat crashing the net multiple times today.

Tied 2-2

3rd period

Bruce Cassidy Must have had a lot to say during the 2nd intermission because the Bruins came out swarming.

2:12 into period Frank Vatrano gets the puck to Jimmy Hayes who wins the battle in the corner and lays a pass back to the blue-line.

3-2 Bruins

Turnovers are what kept the Canucks in this game. After a shot on Khudobin by the Canucks, the puck was lost in Khudobin’s pads but clearly still loose. Play was still alive when Alexander Burrows continued to attack Khudobin’s pads when Colin Miller absolutely flattened him as play was finally whistled dead.

David Backes also played with a refreshing edge, knocking Troy Stecher on his backside during a puck battle along the boards.

12:54 Bruins penalty to Tim Schaller for slashing that after review looked non-existent.

Tied 3-3

18:00 David Pasternak scored an unbelievable goal when he took a pass from David Krejci from the redline and buried it for his 25th goal and gave the bruins the 4-3 lead. It was Krejci’s 24th assist and McQuaid’s 4th on the year.

End of Regulation
