Boston headed to Dallas early Sunday afternoon to take on the Stars. Boston beat Dallas 6-3 to end their 4 game road trip.
An entertaining first ten minutes to say the least. Right off the draw David Backes and Jamie Benn dropped the gloves. Both have had a feud since last years playoffs, the fight was inevitable. After the fight, both teams settled down and played some entertaining hockey. At the 5:56 mark, David Pastrnak displayed some incredible skill behind the goal, found Patrice Bergeron who found Brad Marchand who then fired in home on an empty goal. Marchand’s career high 62nd point on the year. Less than a minute later at the 6:51 mark, Torey Krug shot one from the point, David Krejci deflected it past Kari Lehtonen to put Boston up 2-0 early in the first.
After a hectic first ten minutes, the period settled down and both teams played well. Each team had multiple scoring opportunities with each goalie making some good saves. The Bruins had a more dominant first period with 8 scoring opportunities compared to the Stars having 3. Nothing was able to get past either goalie in the second 10 minutes.
After 1,Bruins lead 2-0. SOG 9-5 in favor of Boston.
The start of the second was not as entertaining as the first. Both teams had opportunities early on. Bruins defenseman, Torey Krug, had multiple chances on Lehtonen but nothing got past him. At the 4:40 mark John Klingberg shot one towards the net, Tuukka Rask was being screened by the Bruins defensemen Kevan Miller and the puck went past Rask, 2-1 Bruins.
A little less than a minute later Kevan Miller and Curtis Mackenzie dropped the gloves. Both were assessed a penalty for fighting. Nothing going for either team, both playing sloppy hockey. Dallas was able to go on the power play at the 11:10 mark. Torey Krug held Antoine Roussel. Dallas was able to capitalize at the 11:49 mark with a power play goal by Jiri Hudler. Tie game 2-2.
After Brad Marchand hit the crossbar, Boston was regain the lead on a shot by Kevan Miller that was deflected by Frank Vatrano into the back of the net at the 14:41 mark. 3-2 Bruins. 40 seconds later off a faceoff at the 15:21 mark Patrice Bergeron was able to deflect a shot into the net to give Boston a 2 goal lead. 4-2 Bruins.
A couple of opportunities arose for the Stars but nothing went into the back of the net after some incredible, acrobatic saves by Rask.
After 2, Boston leads 4-2. SOG in the second 18-10 in favor of Dallas.
Early at the 4:23 mark , Boston went on the power pay as Curtis Mackenzie was called for a hook on David Pastrnak. Boston was not able to get anything going on the power play and Dallas came back to full strength. At the 7:48 mark Patrice Bergeron was able to get one past Lehtonen for his 2nd goal of the game.5-2 Bruins lead.
At the 10:44 mark Brandon Carlo was sent to the box for tripping Jamie Benn. Dallas was not able to get anything during the 2 minutes on the power play. At the 13:00 mark, right after the Brandon Carlo came out of the box ex bruin Tyler Seguin put one past Rask. 5-3 Bruins lead. 10 seconds later at the 13:10 mark Stephen Johns was called for delay of game after he sent the puck over the glass. Boston headed to the power play.
At the 14:23 mark Ryan Spooner snuck one past Lethtonen on the power play. Bruins lead 6-3. No team was able to create anything else in the 3rd.
End of game., Bruins win 6-3. SOG in the 3rd 12-7 in favor of Dallas. SOG in the game 35-26 in favor of Dallas

Huge games from the top two lines for the Bruins as they went into Dallas and came out with a win. The Bruins ended their 4 game road trip going 3-1 and gained a huge 2 points as they contend for a wild card spot. They are now 6-1 under Bruce Cassidy.
Boston jumped Toronto to the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference. Boston looks to continue their success under Bruce Cassidy against Arizona Coyotes February 28th.
