FIRST PERIOD

Two minutes into the period the Bruins go on the penalty kill with a Brandon Carlo tripping minor against Ondrej Kase. The Ducks are 13th in the league on the power play. The Bruins are first in the league on the penalty kill.

Three shots total for the Ducks, the Bruins kill off the man advantage.

9:02 in to the period Bruins score a goal by Brandon Carlo who took a point pass from David Backes (15) that he drilled past Bernier for his fifth on the season. Interesting note: since Backes was moved to the first line he has five points in five games. Before the move, he had three points in 14 games.

13:01 remaining in the first four-on-four as Bergeron  hits the box for a hooking minor and Hampus Lindholm for delay of game, shooting the puck over the glass.

Tuukka Rask was fantastic in the first period, robbing Ondrej Kase with 4:17 left in the first. Scoring chances even at 5-5.

2:16 to go in the first power play Bruins as Ondrej Kase was called for tripping David Pasternak.

SECOND PERIOD

2:03 into the second period Ondrej Kase scores his fifth goal of the season on a defensive zone breakdown by the Bruins. Kase’s goal was assisted by Nick Ritchie (10) and Ryan Getzlaf (35).

4:32 A Bruins picked up a  power play on Kevin Bieksa’s minor penalty for hooking. Jonathan Bernier absolutely robbed a Patrice Bergeron stick-side on a textbook pass from Brad Marchand on the doorstep.

In the ensuing face off, David Pasternak blasts a rocket by Jonathan Bernier from the point, but the goal was waived off for goaltender interference by Brad Marchand.

6:55 A penalty to Bieksa just expires when Zdeno Chara blasted his 6th goal by Jonathan Bernier ‘s glove-side from a centering pass by David Backes (16),  Frank Vatrano (6).

7:42 Forty seven seconds later the Bruins commit an awful defensive zone breakdown, allowing Rickard Rackell to slip the puck between Tuukka Rask’s pads and through to the goal mouth for his team leading 23rd goal assisted by Corey Perry (30).

Third Period

Third period was a goal-tending duel with scoring chances at both ends of the ice. Chippy play was starting to give way to nastiness after the whistles by both teams.

11:35 David Krejci (26) takes a pass from Kevan Miller (6) in the Bruins zone and had the vision to diagonally hit Frank Vatrano in stride for a walk-in on Jonathan Bernier and blast it by the Ducks goaltender’s glove-side.

Frank Vatrano did not miss when setup with a beautiful pass from David Krejci that sent him in one on one

17:26 With 2:34 left in regulation, things were getting tight defensively.  Then Rickard Rakell took advantage of yet another Bruins defensive end break down for his 24th on the season and second on the night when Kevin Bieksa shot it from the point (6) the rebound was kicked out to Corey Perry (31) who was denied by Rask but could not stop Rakell.

19:11 An empty net goal scored by Andrew Cogliano for his 13th on the season assisted by Ryan Kesler (26) and Jakob Silverberg (20).
