The Colorado Avalanche rolled into the TD Garden on Thursday night in search of snapping their six-game losing streak. Mission accomplished. The Avs successfully broke the streak from goals scored by Matt Duchene, Nathan MacKinnon, John Mitchell and Carl Soderberg.

Colorado was first to get on the board as team-leading scorer Matt Duchene notched his 10th of the season 5:30 into the 1st period. The Av’s extended their lead by two when Nathan MacKinnon capitalized on a break-away goal sniping it past Khudobin’s glove side. Just like Wednesday night, the Bruins found themselves in a 2-0 hole heading into the locker room for the first intermission.

Colorado maintained their momentum to open up the second period when John Mitchell wristed a shot top shelf from just above the face-off circle beating Khudobin once again glove side. The Bruins didn’t spur a big enough comeback like Wednesday night, but cut the lead to one thanks to David Pastrnak who scored goals back-to-back. Pastrnak scored his 17th and 18th goals of the season.

Carl Soderberg would score the games last goal 17:05 into the 2nd period giving the Av’s enough comfort to hold on to the 4-2 lead through the entire 3rd period. Anton Khudobin got the call tonight as this game was the second of a back-to-back.  Khudobin made 18 saves on the night. On the other end Calvin Pickard made 29 saves on 31 shots earning a .935 Sv%. The Bruins out shot Colorado 31-22 but couldn’t seem to get the puck past Pickard who had a stellar game.
