The lead story around the Pacific Division standings this week is the back and forth battle between the Edmonton Oilers and the Anaheim Ducks for second place. San Jose Sharks still hold claim to first in the division and seventh in the league with 77 points in 60 games. Going into last Thursday, the Oilers were two points behind Anaheim with a game in hand. Now, both teams are coming off of big wins last night and are tied with 74 points. But for now, the Oilers take claim to the second spot with one less game played.

Heading into the last 22 or so games of the season, this division is far from set. San Jose has held first place in the division for a most of the season and a post season appearance is sure to happen. Along with the Sharks, Edmonton and Anaheim currently have a ten point lead over fourth place Calgary. The Flames are currently at 64 points in 60 games. While a divisional spot may seem out of reach, the priority in Calgary is securing the wild card. They currently hold the second wild card spot, one point behind Nashville. The LA Kings are on the outside looking in, but are by no means out of it. They sit two points behind the Flames with a game in hand. These two teams meet head to head on Tuesday, February 28.
