Six games into the 2016 season, the Patriots offense has looked unstoppable despite arguably their best receiver producing at the rate he is capable of.

Julian Edelman has just 28 catches for 261 yards and zero touchdown this year. That’s an average of just 5 catches for 44 yards per game. To make matters worse, Edelman actually put up better numbers with Garopollo and Brissett (19 catches for 196 yards) than he has with Tom Brady (9 catches 65 yards in two games). However, Edelman has been the most targeted receiver on the field since Brady has came back, the dynamic duo just seem to be out of sync so far this season.

Edelman hasn’t looked like he has a problem with his foot while moving around out there, however, he has been on the injury report the past two weeks with that foot injury. Although, Edelman played in 91% of snaps in Sundays win over the Bengals, so it seems to be nothing to worry about.

So what is going on with Edelman?

It could really be that Tom Brady and the Patriots have a ton of other great options on the field for the first time in Edelman’s Patriots career. Gronkowski and Edelman were the go-to guys. Now with the additions and emergence of Bennett, Hogan, and James White, Tom Brady may feel as if there are other options besides his good pal Jules.

Edelman was asked about his slow start and the receiver didn’t seem too shaken up about it.

“That’s part of winning,” Edelman said to NESN. “You’re on a winning football team. We don’t play fantasy football, we play winning football.”

We know Julian Edelman is going to produce at a high level, it’s just a matter of time. I’m sure he and Brady have been working together all week trying to get Edelman more catches and to get both of them back in sync.

Edelman’s slow start is nothing to worry about. It’s just m a matter of time before he breaks out and has a huge game.

Stay calm, Patriots Nation.
