Central Division as of February 22:
Divisional match ups of the week:
Dallas @ Minnesota 2/16 – DAL 1, MIN 3
Nashville @ Minnesota 2/18 – NSH 2, MIN 5
Chicago @ Minnesota 2/21 – CHI 5, MIN 3
WILD KEEP LEAD
The Minnesota Wild had a busy divisional week. However, even after a disappointing home loss to rival Chicago last night, they still hold claim to that number-one spot and second overall across the league. They are still five points ahead of the Blackhawks with a game in hand. With that, Chicago still holds a commanding lead over third place St. Louis. The Blues sit 12 points back. Right behind them are the Nashville Predators, two points back with a game in hand. Nashville currently holds the first wild card spot in the West with 65 points. While the wild card spots, and even third place in the division may be up for grabs, it can easily be said Chicago and Minnesota will hold the first two spots in the division and could potentially lead to a very intriguing second round playoff matchup.
JETS HOLDING ON
The Winnipeg Jets are currently fifth in the division with 62 points. While the Dallas Stars are returning from their bye week and the St. Louis Blues are in the middle of theirs, the Jets are just heading out this week, along with the Wild. Minnesota may be able to enjoy the time off with not too much worry. The Jets will be paying close attention to the wild card race in the West. Right now, they are only three points behind Nashville, but have played four more games. They are 3-0-2 in their last five and are doing all they can to hold on and be in the wild card race.
All in all, the overall standings did not change from last week.
