The Celtics only loss of the week can against Detroit, who is playing great basketball right now. To ease any lingering pain of that loss, Detroit mopped the floor with Atlanta last night. Beating the Hawks 121-85. Detroit beat the Clippers, Hornets, Hawks, and Celtics in four of their last five. At least the Celtics made it a close game, while Charlotte and Atlanta did not. Let’s get right into the this past week’s recap of the Celtics through the sometime wonderful world of Twitter.

MONDAY’S GAME VERSUS THE MIAMI HEAT

The week started out on a positive note as the Celtics took care of the Miami Heat on Monday. There was a little controversy surrounding that game, as Al Horford stayed home to be with his wife and children after they welcomed their newborn Alia into the world Sunday afternoon. Even if 95% of athletes would have played in the game the day after their child was born, Horford would still be right in taking an extra day to stay home.

The lucky few that are good enough to be a really well paid pro athlete will find themselves missing a lot of their children’s youth. Here’s a tweet from Isaiah Thomas from a couple of weeks ago.

Love my job but hate the fact that I miss so many of my kids games and events smh…

— Isaiah Thomas (@Isaiah_Thomas)

Horford will sacrifice time with his family, and miss a lot of important events in his children’s lives. He will go long stretches where he doesn’t get to see them. So, taking an extra day to be with the wife as she recovers from giving birth, and spend time with his one year old son, and newborn daughter is a valuable experience that every pro athlete should not miss. Besides, he wants to keep his wife happy. Most people seem to be amazed that actually became a story, so let’s just move on.

ONE OF THE KEY PLAYERS FOR THE CELTICS LATELY HAS BEEN JONAS JEREBKO. HERE’S JONAS SHOWING US HIS ABILITY TO ELEVATE AND GET SOME AIR.

Jonas Jerebko uses a fundamental head-fake to make room, then finds his way to the hoop for the lay-up.

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) November 29, 2016

OK, MAYBE ELEVATE WASN’T THE RIGHT WORD FOR JONAS, BUT HERE’S ZELLER WITH A STRONG FINISH DOWN LOW OFF A GREAT PASS BY CROWDER.

Crowder and Zeller go pick and roll, as Jae leads Tyler to the rim with the sweet two-handed bounce pass.

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) November 29, 2016

SORRY ABOUT THAT AGAIN, APPARENTLY ZELLER WENT WITH THE SOFT TOUCH ON THE GLASS APPROACH. LET’S GO TO AN ON TARGET SHOT BY JAE CROWDER, AS HE CONTINUES TO REGAIN HIS STROKE FROM OUTSIDE.

Crowder goes to the bank just as the shot clock expires to give the Celtics a 17-point cushion at the half.

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) November 29, 2016

ON TARGET MAY NOT BE A GOOD WAY TO DESCRIBE THAT SHOT, BUT IT WENT IN. SO FAR, NOT SO GOOD FOR THE CELTICS HIGHLIGHTS ON THE FLASHY SCALE. LET’S TRY A LITTLE ISAIAH THOMAS ACTION.

Isaiah Thomas flashes the footwork before going by Dragic for the layup to push the lead to 16.

DETROIT COMES TO BOSTON LOOKING TO RETURN THE FAVOR OF WINNING ON THE ROAD.

Few teams are playing better basketball than Detroit right now. They are shooting the ball extremely well, and they proved that to Celtics fans Wednesday night at the Garden. The Celtics held their own against Detroit, and there were a couple moments where the game could have swung one way or the other.

DETROIT TRIES TO DOUBLE TEAM HORFORD, BUT THE CELTICS WILL TAKE THAT ALL DAY LONG. HE IS SUCH A SMART PLAYER AND KNOWS HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A TEAM’S DEFENSE OVER-COMMITTING.

Al Horford finds Amir Johnson for #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes! RT to raise $1 for diabetes prevention.

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 1, 2016

ISAIAH HAD A TOUGH WEEK THIS WEEK. HE STARTED OFF KNOWING WHITESIDE WAS ROAMING AROUND IN THE PAINT. HIS NEXT STOP HAD ANOTHER BIG MAN WHO’S KNOWN TO CLOG UP THE PAINT IN DRUMMOND. DOES THOMAS CARE? I DON’T THINK SO.

How did IT find the angle on this shot?

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 1, 2016

This might be one of the best made baskets in the history of the game. It didn’t count, but the refs should have given it to him just because.

It didn’t count, but… How in the world did Isaiah Thomas hit this shot?!

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 1, 2016

ROZIER HAD A QUALITY GAME AGAINST DETROIT. THE CELTICS REALLY NEED HIM FOR THIS TEAM TO BE NEAR THE TOP OF THE STANDINGS AT THE END OF THE SEASON. ANYTIME HE CAN GET ONE-ON-ONE OPPORTUNITIES HE NEEDS TO BE AGGRESSIVE LIKE HE WAS HERE.

Rozier brings the C’s level with the pull-up jumper… And draws the foul!

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 1, 2016

THIS ONE FEATURES ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING TYPES OF PLAYS IN BASKETBALL, AND ONE OF THE MOST EMBARRASSING DEFENSIVE LAPSES IN THE GAME AS WELL.

Marcus Smart grabs the offensive board and rises up for the loud #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes!

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 1, 2016

THERE WERE SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW WELL THE REFS OFFICIATED THIS GAME, BUT THERE WERE ONLY QUESTIONS WITH THIS PLAY.

Ish Smith with the block and then the behind the back pass to Tobias Harris for the slam! #DetroitBasketball

— Aaron Johnson (@AJohnsonSports) December 1, 2016

I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW GOAL-TENDING CAN’T BE REVIEWED AND LATER CREDITED AS A GOOD BASKET OR NO BASKET. IF THEY CAN ADD OR TAKEAWAY POINTS BASED ON WHETHER A PLAYER’S TIP OF HIS SHOE WAS TOUCHING A LINE, THEN WHY CAN’T THEY DO THE SAME WITH WHETHER A BALL HIT THE BACKBOARD BEFORE A DEFENDER TOUCHED IT? EITHER WAY, THAT MISSED CALL TURNED INTO A BIG FOUR POINT SWING, AND WAS AN EASY CALL.

SACRAMENTO COMES TO BOSTON, LET THE TRADE TALK BEGIN

There’s a lot of reasons to like DeMarcus Cousins, and a lot of reasons not to like him. He scores, rebounds, and is a really good talent who is one of the best skilled big men in the game today. Sure, but, he is also always on a losing team. He seems to be deeply scarred by officials, and he will have at least three moments every game where he will be frustrated and stop playing.

As players get older, they tend to mature. Perhaps, Cousins is ready to turn that corner, and getting a chance to see he in Boston is great. We all get to see him up close, and read his body language, and other factors that don’t show up on the box score.

Anytime the Celtics can get the ball moving early, they are going to have a good chance of winning.

That ball movement though

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 3, 2016

SMART DID NOT HAVE A GOOD GAME, BUT HE CONTINUES TO SHOW OFF HIS POINT GUARD SKILLS.

Marcus hits Amir with the no-look, thread-the-needle pass for two!

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 3, 2016

THE CELTICS HAVE AT LEAST THREE DEFENDERS IN CROWDER, BRADLEY, AND SMART THAT CAN JUST TAKE THE BALL FROM PEOPLE.

Defense ?? Offense ?

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 3, 2016

AL HORFORD HAD HIS BEST GAME AS A MEMBER OF THE CELTICS AGAINST SACRAMENTO, AND IT INCLUDED A LOT OF BLOCKS. THIS CLIP IS ALSO VERY ENTERTAINING AS CROWDER WAS APPARENTLY JUST GOING FOR A QUICK JOG DOWN THE COURT.

Horford with yet another emphatic block! ??????

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 3, 2016

Horford blocks, Crowder saves, Rozier dishes and Jerebko swishes ??

— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 3, 2016

I tried to avoid using csnne’s twitter feed because of the five second ads at the beginning get pretty annoying, after a couple videos. But, I am going to use one.

@al_horford seals the #Celtics win with a big block on @boogiecousins

STEPPING BACK AND CHECKING OUT THE BIG PICTURE.

OLD FRIEND, EVAN TURNER CONTINUES TO SAY IT BECAUSE THEY WON’T

Only in America..

— Evan Turner (@thekidet) December 1, 2016

I’m surprised to see Steph Curry foul out on national tv lol s/o to the refs for keeping it real. GSW still has a MVP on floor tho

— Evan Turner (@thekidet) December 2, 2016

OUR OTHER POTENTIALLY GOOD FRIENDS, THE NETS MANAGED TO SNEAK A WIN IN THIS WEEK, DISAPPOINTINGLY. DARN YOU DOC.

THE CELTICS ALSO SANG RUDOLPH, BUT I WILL SPARE YOU FROM HAVING TO SEE THAT AS MUCH AS I CAN. THE THOUGHT DOES COUNT, AND IS GREAT, BUT NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE RECORDED AND SHARED.

SCALABRINE AND FRIENDS ALSO DID A ‘MAN BUN/WEARING A TIE’ AD THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY, BUT MAYBE NOT QUITE FUNNY ENOUGH TO FOLLOW A NETS LOSE TWEET.

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND AND SEE YOU NEXT WEEK
