The Celtics have a great back-court, in case you were wondering. Avery Bradley and Isaiah Thomas were dominant tonight. The Celtics perhaps had more trouble than fans would have liked, but ultimately they put this one away in convincing fashion. Jonas Jerebko had a big 4th quarter, on both ends. Here are the keys to the win.

Celtics Back-Court Great in Win

Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley are scoring points in their sleep. The duo scored 45 points tonight. Also, they held Brooklyn’s starting guards to only 8 points.

Avery Bradley kept us his impressive rebounding streak, grabbing 7 boards in the win. He also had 5 steals. Forcing turnovers was a big part of this win, and Bradley was a big help. Avery finished with 22 points as well.

Isaiah Thomas has been scoring 20 points in almost every Celtic game this season. He scored 23 points tonight. This was partially due to 5 for 10 shooting from beyond the arc. Isaiah Thomas also recorded a rare block!

Forcing Turnovers

The Celtics forced the Nets into 19 turnovers tonight. This was huge. Brooklyn was able to score 8 more points off of free throws than the celtics. When the whistles aren’t going your way, and they weren’t, finding extra possessions can be a big boon. Despite grabbing 9 offensive rebounds, and drawing 22 fouls, the Nets lost. And they lost big, that says a lot.

Defense Up and Down overall, but Dominant in 1st and 3rd Quarters

The Celtics held the Nets to 39% field goal shooting in this game. They only allowed 16 points in the first quarter, and 17 in the third. The 3rd quarter in particular was a flurry of turnovers and missed shots for the Nets. The fourth quarter was a bit of a barn burner both ways, but the Celtics were able to do enough to secure a convincing win.

Marcus Smart The Improved Play-maker

Smart was an outstanding passer in this game. He made a few great outlet passes in transition early in the game. Stevens seemed to reward Marcus, putting the ball in his hands in the second half and he kept delivering. Marcus finished with only 4 points, but with 8 rebounds and 9 assists! In addition to his usual stellar defense, Marcus contributed on offense with his passing.

And the assists don’t even capture the big picture. Marcus at one point in the game attacked the rim, drew the defense in, and whipped a bullet of a pass to an open Horford. Horford redirected the ball quickly over to Rozier, who then was able to drive through a wide open lane to the rim and convert for 2 points.

Marcus has been improving as a play-maker since he came into the league, and tonight he showed off his skill passing the ball.

Simultaneously, Ainge can be pleased with the Nets loss. The Nets, who had started the season 4-7, are now just 4-10. This puts them in a 4 way tie for the second worst record in the NBA.

The Celtics will be back in action playing the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, at 12:30 PM. The Black Friday game will take place in Boston, at the TD Garden.
