Forsbacka Karlsson was selected by the Bruins in with the 45th overall pick in the 2nd round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He will burn the first year off of his Entry Level Contract, and will likely assume the role as third line center as early as Tuesday night in a pivotal contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
JFK has been rumored to prefer to stay with Boston University, but Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney was able to convince the two way centerman to forego the rest of his time with BU with a roster spot on the big boy club.
Forsbacka Karlsson acted as an Alternate Captain for BU, and potted 14 goals with 19 assists and 32 penalty minutes. Plus-minus is a flawed statistic, but for a two-way forward his plus-11 rating was a clear indicator of the role he played on a talented Boston University squad.
#NHLBruins sign Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson to a three-year entry-level contract beginning with 2016-17 season.
