The Bruins will face off against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at 7 pm in Boston. The Hurricanes, who are 9-9-4 on the season, are coming off a loss against the Rangers Tuesday night. The Bruins, who are 12-10-1 on the season, are also coming off a loss, after an eight round shootout Tuesday night against the Flyers.

The Bruins will be playing without Zdeno Chara for the 5th straight game tonight, but he did participate in pregame skate earlier this morning, so he should be returning to the line up soon.

This is the first of three meetings these teams will have this season, this being the only home game the Bruins will have against them.

What to Watch For

In Tuesday night’s loss, the Bruins outshot the Flyers 47 to 21. Look for them to keep pounding the net with shots. Additionally, they have seemingly had rough 1st periods the past couple games, they need to tighten up the defense, and get more offensive zone time right off the bat.

Tonight will be Riley Nash’s first game against his former team, where he played for 5 seasons.

The Hurricanes have the best Penalty Kill in the league, so the Bruins will really have to work the power play to capitalize on any opportunities tonight. Jeff Skinner leads the Hurricanes in scoring.

Puck drops in Boston at 7 pm.
