The Celtics lost tonight to the Spurs in San Antonio. The Celtics allowed the Spurs to shoot 55% and that number could’ve been worse as it was around 65% at the half. Avery Bradley had a great game in the losing effort, putting up 25 points and stuffing the stat sheet all around.

Brad Stevens Impressed with Spurs Defense

Stevens: Their defense was great. We threw it to their team 5 times in the 1st quarter. We had opportunities, but didn’t maximize them.- Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 15, 2016

And it makes sense. The Celtics looked visibly frustrated at times. The Spurs made everything difficult. Passing the ball was difficult. Driving to the rim wasn’t easy either. The final score is a bit misleading. The Celtics really had to work for their 101.

Kawhi Leonard Controlled The Game

The Celtics, at various times, were able to go on a run. In the first half they briefly went up 2 a few minutes before the end of the half. (In those few minutes, the Spurs got it all back and then some building a 10 point lead. )

Kawhi was a big reason why. He had a knack for making big plays at exactly the worst possible time if you’re a Celtics fan.

Leonard finished with 26 points and 6 assists. He also made many big plays defensively.

Avery Bradley and Jaylen Brown Were Bright Spots

Avery Bradley and his excellent game was already mentioned above. It’s difficult to imagine how bad this game could have been without that type of night from Avery.

Jaylen Brown was also big in limited minutes. Brown came off the bench to score 7 points on 2 of 3 shooting in only 10 minutes of play. He also had a steal and a block. Why he didn’t get more minutes in this one is a bit puzzling.

Celtics Play Hornets Tomorrow

The Celtics are now 13-12 on the season.considering the injury luck, or lack thereof, that is still not where they want to be. The Celtics play the Hornets tomorrow night at 7:30. This is now a big game, to avoid a . 500 record, but also to get a win against a talented Eastern Conference opponent.
