As we sit here on athursday, March 9th 2017; the Habs continue to prove their hold on the Atlantic Division and it is no fluke. Coach Julien has his team playing like the standings show, winners of their last five. The Habs holding steady with 84 points, leading the division.

The Ottawa Senators are just as dangerous as the Canadiens in this race with 78 points. They have overcome adversity with injuries and have adopted the “next man up” philosophy. It’ll be interesting coming down the stretch where this team will end up. I’m certainly of the opinion this team will make a deep run after what I saw this week. The Bruins have played two more games against the Senators.

The Bruins are still playing their best hockey of the season with 74 points. I’m not to ready measure this team by what we saw Monday night.

The Wildcard race is a non-stop carousel with the New York Islanders keeping the seat warm as of late and the New York Rangers have a grip on a wildcard playoff spot. Interesting point; if the Rangers played in the Atlantic, they’d hold the top spot.

As of now, the Canadiens are tops in the division.
